The Baxters Loch Ness Marathon takes place on 5 October starting on the south side of Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands, following a spectacular route through stunning scenery, and alongside the famous loch, before taking runners through the historic Highland capital of Inverness to finish in the stadium.. In addition to the marathon, there is also the Baxters River Ness 10K, 5K Fun Run and the new Healthy Working Lives 10K Corporate Challenge finishing in the same arena. Highlights of the Festival of Running weekend include a pre-race Pasta Party and a festival of Highland food, live music, massed pipes and drums, charity and sports retailer stalls, as well as children's entertainment.
